To Party or Not To Party?

You see, I love a good party!
 I mean who doesn't right?
I love the whole party planning process.

So, the question is...
To Party or Not To Party?
I am talking about a 2nd Birthday party for my sweet face.
I have so many ideas whirling around in my head.
I have known the theme since his first birthday.
Seems pretty crazy right?
But what is even crazier is that you know why I knew the theme so early?
Well it's because I bought his big boy bedding before his 1 year old Birthday.

Here are some of my ideas...
The bedding is a baseball theme.
I picked it up at Pottery Barn Kids because he just had to have it.
A year later I am still in love with it and can't wait to start on his big boy room.

See it's pretty cute right?
So while I would be in the process of planning a Birthday party he probably wont remember,
I will also have to be...
working full time,
being a full time mommy and wife,
planning and buying things for a big boy room,
blogging,
and working on a couple big projects I have up my sleeve that will make our family some cash money.
So what do I do?
I love parties, I love planning and putting stuff together.
I am really good at it and enjoy it.
But I already have a lot on my plate and dont want to over do it.
I know how stressed I will be and I won't be a 100% mommy, wife, or employee
if I pull my self too thin.
Do I just suck it up and do the party.
He is only 2 once...
If we don't do a  party we still want to do sometrhing special for him so we decided that
I will get him a custom made 2 year old shirt off Etsy
and a birthday cake and get some professional pictures done.
We also want to take him to one of those inflatable jumping places
and let him do whatever he wants for the day.

So, tell me, what would you do?

We didn't have a party for Hudson this year b/c he had just fractured his wrist. He didn't know the difference! It was harder on me :-)
No matter what u do, he knows u love him!

Sounds like you want to do the party, do the party!! I think you can do some of those fun ideas {they are so cute btw} and not all of them and still have one hell of a party!!!

I did a baseball themed first birthday party for Connor. You can look for it under Happy Birthday label on chanceofstorms.com It was simple and easy. Had some popcorn tubs from $1 spot at Target with some peanuts on the table. I served nachos, hot dogs, and hamburgers. I had a local company embroider a baseball hat and print a shirt. It was simple but fun! I also had our guests autograph a baseball that we have in Connor's room now. If you see anything you like, just ask! I can send you electronic forms of signs, etc.

For Connor's second birthday I don't think we are going to do much. It is hard when he can't eat cake anyway because of his milk sensitivity.

I'm in the same dilemma as you. I know what I want to do for the twin's 2nd birthday but... I can come up with a littany of reasons of why I don't want to throw a big party this year. First, their 1st bday, while awesome, was too big, too overwhelming, stressful, etc. And with them not really in school, most of their "friends" are our friend's kids, which could range in age from 1-5yrs. So it's hard to think of something that would satisfy all. AND hopefully we will be in the process of moving, so where would I have it? Anyway, I think if there is any birthday to "skip" (well, not really skip, but just celebrate as a family and do fun things with them all day), the 2nd birthday is the best one. They won't remember and will probably have much more fun spending a fun day with mom and dad. And I bet he would enjoy that precious theme just as much, if not even MORE next year : ) And that's my novel on 2nd birthdays!

Do not stretch yourself too thin. I repeat do NOT stretch yourself too thin. That being said I don't see why you can't still do some of your special baseball ideas and still manage to keep some sanity from too much party planning. Jennifer from Life in the Green House put together a lovely party for her daughter recently. She managed to still do some specialized items while not losing herself in too many details. This post reminded me of her debate for Braylens second birthday party. Hope this helps :)

I say party!!!!!! They're only 2 once. It's only once a year you have to do it! YOU CAN DO IT! Plus...I wanna see what all you do, because I'm betting birthday #3 for us will be baseball...his name is Easton for a reason...

Party party party! Even if it's something small it's still a celebration for him.

I don't have children, so I don't know what I'd do, but I love the theme idea, very cute! :)

I say do it if you want to! The problem is when we all feel obligated to have elaborate parties every year. But if you've got the energy and the motivation, why not? Those baseball tickets/invites are SO cute!

hey girl, I am new to your blog-- I found you from Designer Blogs samples as I'm about to take the plunge for a new blog make over and I was scanning yours b/c its SUPER CUTE and came to this post-- I swear you are speaking my language! I'm in the same battle about a party for my 2nd child who is turning 2 in June... working full time, blogging, living and trying to figure out how to plan a party she will remember... My husband thinks its crazy- we asked my now 4yr old if he remembers where we had his birthday for his 2nd party and his response was, "Is it my birthday"... my husband says-- point made. I said, yeah but I have pictures to prove it was a huge hit! :) I say go for it- parties are what keep people together and some day your kids will thank you for it-- whether they remember or not. hugs! New Follower too.
