Ballet Party ::Christina Higman Photography::

Hello!  I'm so excited to be here!  My name is Christina, photographer at Christina Higman Photography.  A couple weeks ago my youngest daughter turned 3.  She's been a ballet dancin' fool these days, so my mom and I decided to throw her a sweet ballerina themed party.  I'm so blessed to have a crafty, energetic momma.  We were able to divide our favorite pinterest finds and tackle most of the decorations ourselves.  Here are a few images from the day....

Simple flower decorations were mostly compiled of green plants from my yard.  The soft pink roses matched the party perfectly.
One of my favorite decorations was the ballerina tutu cupcake toppers my mom made.  So perfect!  She looked at this pinterest tutorial and then added her own touches.  I loved the little rinestones, tulle, and sparkly ribbon she used.  They got lots of attention.  :-)

This cake was absolutely amazing.  One of my favorite photography clients just happens to be great with fondant.  I talked her into doing this cake for me.  :-)  She does a limited number of these for others, but if you need an awesome custom cake in Tampa let me know.  I can get you in touch with her!

The cake ruffles were my favorite.

The ballet sugar cookies above were one of my projects.  They came out really cute, and they were super easy.  I rolled out my cookie dough and just cut the oblong shape out with a knife.  I looked at this site for my inspiration.
Above you will also see my oldest daughter giving me her biggest smile in our pink frame we hung outside.  Each of the quests posed for a picture.
The bottom left image is from this pinterest find.  It's basically just a pink cut out from cardstock on the top, a ribbon across the middle, and the kids handprint to make the tutus.  They turned out really cute and the kids seemed to enjoy a craft.
Lastly in the bottom right we had pink, heart shaped peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  Did you know you can have the Publix bakery make you a loaf of bread dyed any color?  Awesome right?

I made this number 3 for our front door.  It took me a couple hours, but it wasn't hard.  I cut out a number 3 on a piece of cardboard and then hot glued scrunched up tissue paper all over.  My husband kept looking over like I was crazy while I was making it, but I assured him it was worth it.  :-)

My mom and my girls (okay, mostly my mom) made this awesome pinata.  There are a ton of tutorials online for making one.  She used the traditional balloon, newpaper strips, and flour/ water paste method.  She did two layers and it was the PERFECT thickness.  Each child was able to give it 3 swings before it finally broke.  Tacky glue attached the tissue paper circles, starting at the bottom and layering up towards the top.

Here's my sweet little ballerina.  I do a portrait session for each of my kids on their birthday.  I love having pictures of ONLY them at least once a year.  We had her custom headband made by Birde Baby Boutique.

One of her favorite presents...."real" ballerina shoes.  :-)

This little outfit came from Target.  Thank you Target for having ballet clothes just in time for our party!!!

The number 3 was awesome to use for her portraits as well.  I'm so glad I thought to add it for a few poses.

If you have any other questions about any of the decorations, etc. you can email me at Christina.Higman@gmail.com We had a great time.  Best of all, Evie Joy LOVED her party.  Of course that made it worth all the hard work.  :-)

Pink, Purple, Yellow, Oh My! ::Spring Time::

Now that Valentine's Day is over with its time to think about spring time!
And when I think of spring I totally think of light pinks, purples, yellows, aqua.
Ya know the fun colors of life and springy time.

What also screams spring to me is Easter decor and yummies.
To me, Easter candy is da bomb.
I am totally not a peeps girl but I am a mini cadbury eggs girl.
That hard candy coating mixed with that delicious chocolate gets me every time.
Yum.

I ran across this fun Springy/Easter treat on where else but the Pinterest.

Its called Bunny Bait.
Look how amazing it looks.

Popcorn and chocolate.
Really?!
This screams Cher.
This was made for me.
And for bunnies I guess...ya know because its called bunny bait and all.
But I guess if the parents are the Easter bunnies then well...it is for us!
Yay!

Here is the recipe from

Bunny Bait
1 bag popcorn, popped (I used Tender White)
6 oz. white chocolate candy coating
1 bag Easter M&Ms
pretzel sticks, broken into small pieces
colorful sprinkles, if desired

Place the popped popcorn in a large bowl with the broken up pretzels and M&Ms. Heat the candy coating in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring after each time, until melted and smooth.
Drizzle the candy coating over the popcorn mixture and stir to coat. The pretzels and M&Ms will sink to the bottom, so make sure to get those stirred in and coated with the rest of the popcorn.
Spread out on a large piece of wax paper, top with a few sprinkles (if desired) and let cool. Break into pieces and serve in a large bowl.
Recipe source: slightly adapted from Bake at 350, originally from This Blessed Nest

I can't wait to put some of this into Colby's Easter basket.
He is going to love it!!
Hope I don't eat it all and some actually makes it into the basket.

Since I have had spring time on the mind I decided to share some of my Easter decor ideas with you...

Oh, you know these adorable Easter printables from How Does She?
will be going up on our gallery wall.
And well, all over the house.
I love the color of these.
So fun!

I am also on a mission to find some really fun bunting.
These were found via Heidi Adnum's adorable Etsy store.

And I as I love this idea, lets get real, this would not fair well in our house.
All that beautiful candy would be gone faster than you can say screaming toddler.
And I think my husband would be the first at it, not my toddler.

And you cant let a holiday go by without a pretty wreath.
I am making this and can not wait to show you the tutorial on it.
It is so fun!!!
Now all I gotta do is paint my front door purple.
What do you think hubs??

My Friday's Fanices ::Hollywood Glam::

Hollywood Glam

Even though I am at Blissdom during this My Friday's Fancies,
I could not pass up on my doing my weekly post.
Friday's are one of my favorite days.
And just just because I have a shorten work day and the weekend is right around the corner.
But because I heart fashion and I cant believe I used to blog without it!

Today is all about Hollywood Glam.
With the Oscar's being held on the 26th,
I have created something that I would love to wear down the red carpet.
It's very simple.
Not showy or flashy but just simple and classic.

If you are a Nap Time lover you may have notice that I have used this ring again.
I am so in love with it and have book marked it as my next push gift.
It is so stunning.
I must make this stunner mine.
And if it means I have to get another baby....
well bring it on.

Talk about baby #2 is in the works anyways.
Maybe I should just prepare him.
For the ring that is....

Enjoy your weekend.
Can't wait to update you about my Blissdom venture.

Push Pop Love

I first heard about the AHH-MAZING Cookies & Cups  on Twitter.
Shelly's blog name is nothing short of adorable-ness.
There is just something about it that I love.

Her blog is full of pretty pretty yummy-ness.
For example:

But what really grabbed my sweet, sugary, eye were these fun treats.

And Miss Shelly does a demo for you.
She makes it look all too easy.
This may be bad.
First of all, they are funfetti, enough said.
Second, they are so cute and would be sure crowd pleasers at any event. Even in your own home.
Thirdly, Shelly makes it look so easy.
So a FUNFETTI, pretty, and easy  and yummy.
This is bad news already.

Now, first she baked a FUNFETTI cake.
Easy enough.
Remember to try and not eat all of it yourself.
I know its hard but please refrain.

Flip that bad boy of a push pop over and press.
Wah-la, now you have the perfect sized cake piece in your pop.
That Shelly is a pretty smart girl.
I would have tried to cut a small piece and cram it in.
But her way is a lot prettier.

Next, she filled a piping bag up with icing and started to layer the icing and cake.

Don't forget to layer in some goodies like sprinkles!
Sprinkles make anything more fun and tastier don't they?!

And here is your finished product.
You can even add a little goodie to finish off the top like Shelly did here.
So adorable right!!
You could make these just for fun or coordinate the colors for baby showers, birthday parties, Valentines Day, or any holiday really.

I told you Shelly made them look easy right?
So easy.
Colby will be getting Push Pops for his 2nd Birthday thanks to Shelly's tutorial.
Thanks Shelly!!

The name Push Pops is super fun.
Maybe because it reminds me of my childhood.
I don't know.

But you know what is even more fun is a whole book about Push Pops!
And you know who is releasing her own book is the beautiful Courtney Dial from Pizzazzerie

There is some seriously yummy eye candy is this book.
Courtney Dial does not do anything half way.
This girl goes all out and everything she does is pure perfection.
So go check out her book.
She is even doing a tour with her book.
If she is anywhere within a 2 hour driving distance I will be there to have her sign a book for me.

By the way, she is going to be at Blissdom!!
I can't wait to meet her!
I must say I was super excited when she followed me on Twitter.
Yes, I'm a dork but she is pretty amazing you must admit.

Oh How Pinterest-ing {Link Up}

Whats that uterus?
You want a baby growing in there?
Ok.
Well, you see, this what needs to happen first....
The husband needs to be on board.
Should I show him this post?
How could he not want an itty bitty baby after seeing all of these precious little babies?
I mean that sweet soft wrinkly skin, the freshness of their newness is just about to drive me crazy.
I need a baby!!!

See, I told you I needed a baby.
Are these photos not so sweet it makes your teeth hurt?
Love me some baby love.
