Five on Friday

Happy Friday! I can't believe I am saying this, but this week flew by! Probably because I am super excited about the upcoming weekend and my husband was home all week to help. I had several posts in mind to publish this week but the week just got away from me. Now that I am back working full time and working out when I get home it makes for very short nights and not a lot of time to blog. However, I did want to squeeze in a little Five on Friday love with the good life blog.

{ONE}
I am going to NOLA this weekend for one of my besties 30th birthday!! I am super excited to celebrate with her and its a KIDS FREE trip! So lots of eating, drinking, and sleeping in! Hopefully I will come back rested and not hungover. And hopefully not have gained 10 pounds in the process.

We have reservations at several restaurants, a day at the spa and time to relax. I simply can't wait to live it up! If you want to follow my trip pics, catch me on Instagram, my Insta name is CherEnlow.

{TWO}
I did a little birthday shopping for myself. I decided to treat myself to some new fun makeup from Sephora. I still have yet to dive into that Naked 2 palette. I want to research some eye tutorials first. So, if you know of any good You Tube videos please send them my way.

My signature scent is the Viva La Juicy so of course I had to get the purse size version so I can smell delish at all times. I have always wanted to try CLEAN scents and am so far impressed with all of them. They are the perfect everyday where and smell fresh and well, clean. I think my favorite of the five scents are the Skin and First Blush.

{THREE}
My husband surprised me with a subscription to a wine club. Uh hello, love language! Not the gift part of it, the wine. I love wine. We will be getting 4 shipments of cases like this one...

In case you are wondering where we got the subscription from, its the The Wall Street Journal Wine Club.

{FOUR}
I do have to admit that the timing of the wine club kinda sucks. Even though my husband surprised me with the wine club, he also surprised me with wanting to go on the South Beach Diet. I kicked and screamed about doing it but finally said ok. I need to get the rest of this baby weight off and eat better anyways, so I gave in. It's hard but I am seeing shrinkage in my waist for sure. I am a believer. Part of the South Beach Diet is no alcohol in Phase One. So, in the mean time I just get to stare at this pretty box of salivating wine. Wish me luck that I can abstain.

I am working on drafting a post with all of the foods I have been enjoying on the diet. Hopefully it will go live next week so keep your eyes peeled.

{FIVE}
Apparently we have been living under a rock because we have not seen Frozen yet. Lets just say that the last movie outing we took C to was not a success so I am very hesitant about going again. I did hear that you can watch it on http://www.watch32.com however, I am scared to actually do it. I don't think its legit. Have you done this with your kids? Did it really work?

Should I just do it and stop being a sissy? It looks like a move that the whole family can enjoy. Thoughts please :)

'Cause I'm Bossy

"The opposite of Bossing is Partnering"

Boss: a person who makes decisions, exercises authority, dominates, etc.
Partner: a person who shares or is associated with another in some action or endeavor; sharer; associate.

A Boss doesn't ask for help.
They go through their life thinking they can do it all.
That their way is the right way.
That other people's opinions don't matter because, again, their way is the right way.
No one can do as good of a job as they can, and when someone is trying to "help" it isn't helping because it's not their way of doing it, which is the right way.
They can often be degrading when they don't even realize it.

A Partner is someone who asks for help when they are feeling too overwhelmed.
They seek others advice because they know that they could benefit from their insight.
A Boss will turn to the Partner when they finally realize that their way isn't the only way.
The Partner will gladly accept the Boss with warm open arms.

I sit back and think, am I becoming a "Boss"?
I know I sure do like the phrase "act like a lady, work like a boss".
Doesn't necessarily apply to this situation though.
Anyways,
I sure do like things a certain way.
I do tend to redo things that I don't think are quite up to par.
And, I did just give my husband a tutorial on how to burp a baby properly...our second baby.
You would think he would know how to burp a baby.
In fact, he does know how to burp a baby.

In case you can't see it, there is a light bulb over my head.
This one example is just one of the many, many things that I try to control, and normally not in sweetie pie, sugary responses to my husband.
More in the tone of voice your mother talked to you in when you were little and knew you were in deep shit.
Sometimes I will add in a smirk of a smile or two just for shits and gigs so I don't completely explode.

Help.
What is that?
My husband mutters the words "what can I help with?"
But all I hear is "how can I mess this up?".
Truth.
If its not done my way, then I tend to break out in hives and burn inside.
I feel the need to conquer mommy hood, being a wife, full time paralegal, blogger, and whatever the hell else I get myself into, all by super hero self.
Caffeinated of course, but by myself non the less.
Why?
Why do I do this to myself when my husband is eagerly wanting to help so he doesn't come home to frazzled, sailor mouth of a wife?
Because I am a BOSS.
As much as I like how that sounds, its not the badge of honor I am looking for.

I want to be able to take my husband up on his offers of help,
to share in this journey of parenting,
to come home from work without feeling like I have to start a second job as working in day labor.
This is my problem, that I feel the need to control everything in life and BOSS everyone around me.
I need to be a partner and let things go so I am a better mother, wife, friend, and over all person.
Isn't that what life is about?
Helping each other out, sharing responsibility and this precious adventure we call life.
Not constant negativity and giving the side eye to our spouses and mess-makers children.

In 2014, I will add PARTNERING to my goals list.
I want to PARTNER with husband in marriage, parent hood and life.
I will let go of things that don't really matter.
I will work with him as a team.
We will be Team Enlow.

So What

Life After I DewHow did it get to be Wednesday already? I feel like I never say that. But, I'm not complaining! Closer to FRIDAY!! And Soooooo What....

-that I am the biggest banner on Life After I Dew's blog this month. Yep! I'm her sponsor and so glad I decided to sponsor her. I just adore her blog, with her cute family and her awesome work out seshs.

- that it was 40 degrees here in Florida yesterday and I thought that was freezing until I checked out my Facebook and saw how cold it was everywhere else in the world but in Florida. How do you all take all that cold?! No thanks!

-That I decided that 2014 is MY year. My year to get organized, fit and healthy. So I made myself a printable to keep up with goals and can see them right in front of me. Annnd, I made one for YOU too. All you have to do is print it out and write on it, and keep up with your goals throughout the year. You can see my full post about it in my Achieve Your Goals Post.

Kinda cute huh.
Now go print it or Pin for later.

-I bought another adorable onsie from Swanky Shank. I mean Valentines Day is coming up and Aussie had to have something cute to wear right? Valentines Day isn't just pinks for girls. Boys can rock red and hearts too. Especially when it comes from Swanky Shank

-that every Friday I go to Starbucks to try and hammer out my social media to do list. I just can't seem to find the time to do it during the week with my crazy schedule. It is so calming to grab a cup of coffee and just have one on one with my computer. Serenity. Now, I just can't wait for Friday to get here.

Achieve Your Goals + Printable

Happy New Year! This post is coming a couple days after the New Year, due to the fact I wanted extra time to contemplate my goals. Yes, goals. I hate the words "resolutions". The definition of resolution is as follows: "the state or quality of being resolute; firm determination.

Now, that sounds like a lot of pressure if you ask me. I got a lot on my plate how it is. I would like to better myself, wouldn't we all? But, I am not going to put an insurmountable pressure on myself just to place a check mark off on unattainable resolutions. No. I am going to make a list of attainable GOALS. Things that will make me a better person but at the same time will not drive me to crazy-town. I will make a list of GOALS and in those GOALS are the things that I will try to fulfill. These things are what matter to me. What will make me a better person for not only myself but for my husband, my boys, my family. So, here is a short list of my 2014 GOALS.

Now some of these GOALS may come second nature to some and some of these do for me as well. But, I want to make sure I keep reminding myself of what is important each and every day. And you know what? These are MY GOALS so obviously they apply to what fits me best.

Since GOALS and resolutions are already so hard to keep up with I decided to create a GOALS printable that you can fill in with your own GOALS. All you have to do is DL it from SCRIBD in the 8X10, put it in a fab frame, write your goals in a dry erase marker, and check it off as you go.

2014 Goals Printable

Happy New Year ya'll and good luck with your goals. You can do it!

Five On It

Oh Friday, you are my second favorite "F" word. So glad you finally graced us with your presence. Now that all of the holiday celebrations are done and over with I can finally settle back in and tell you about some fun secrets I have been keeping from you. They involve custom-made dapperness for your itty bitties and some morning delights.

{ONE}
Yep, I'm wearing shorts in December/January. Aren't you jealous?! I can't even imagine having to get all bundled up just to go outside AND having to layer jackets and sweaters, mittens and hates on my kids. Forget about it. I don't have the patience for all that. So here is my laughing (sorry) at all you that have to.

{TWO}
My new boys clothing love is the fabulous Swanky Shank. You will not find boys clothes any cuter than hers. She was voted #6 of Best Baby Clothing Shop of 2013 on Etsy. Go check out her stuff now!!!

{THREE}
It is obvious that I love Swanky Shank by now (I promise and pinky swear that this is not a sponsored post I am just in serious love with her stuff) and another reason I love her Swank is because it is not only custom-made and full of darling-ness for my sweet boy, but she also runs some kick booty deals. Like this one....

For $30.00 you get all these deals. You will be saving so much money that it would be stupid not to snag this while its still available. She is only doing a certain amount of these so hurry and get yours while she is still selling them. I got mine the first day she posted about it. There was no way I was missing out on this!

Here are the deets on where to grab you some Swank.

Aaaannndd if it doesn't get any better. She has 14% off for the New Year! Heck yeah! I have my eye on that middle gray stopped heart outfit for Austin, he would look pretty dapper in it don't ya think?

{FOUR}
This right here is pure heaven. Now, let me warn you, in no way is this healthy or low in calories, but is everything in high caloric intake, spicy, fatty and yummy. Winner, winner in my book. You can check out the recipe on my Pinterest board under Foodie Love.

{FIVE}
Ok so, I know its the new year and we all are trying to eat healthier and blah blah blah but I made this for our New Years Breakfast and it was nothing short of perfection. It has blueberries so it counts as healthy right? If you are looking for the recipe it can be found on my Foodie Love Pinterest board.
